The palegionball.com crew travelled to Warminster's Munro Park for Thursday night's Lower Montco playoff game between the Fort Washington Golden Generals and the host Warminster Warriors.  Following upsets in Wednesday night's first round, both teams faced elimination.  Fort Washington was able to keep their season alive with a 4-2 victory.  The Golden Generals will face another elimination contest Friday night at home.

The scoring opened in the top of the first, with Fort Washington turning a single, stolen base, ground out, and a bunt into an early run.  This would certainly be a preview of what was to come.  Warminster struck back with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth, but was unable to do more damage, despite the bases loaded with no one out.  Fort Washington turned a 6-2-3-2 triple play and escaped the inning without additional damage.  The Golden Generals went on top for good in the top of the fifth plating three runs, through three more squeeze bunts.  Warminster added one more in the bottom of the seventh and threatened for more, but Fort Washington was able to hang on for the win.

Despite a first place finish in the Lower Montco regular season, Warminster's campaign has come to an end.  Fort Washington will host a Losers' Bracket game versus Horsham at 5:30 at Upper Dublin High School.  Horsham defeated Fort Washington Wednesday night in the opening round of the tournament.  Stay with palegionball.com for continuing coverage of the Lower Montco League and playoff action from around the Keystone State.

The Greater Norristown League Playoffs will get underway this Friday evening with all eight teams from the league taking the field.  The double elimination tournament begins with four pairings, including top seed and regular season champion JP Mascaro hosting Norristown.  Other matchups include the Valley Forge Generals visiting two seed Whitpain, six seed Paul's Auto facing off with number three Collegeville, and the fifth seeded Mt. Carmel Mounties traveling to four seed Presidential Caterers.  The tournament will continue into early next week, with the eventual winner moving on to the Region Three Tournament hosted by Norchester.  Check back for more updates from the Greater Norristown League and other action from the state.

Cambria County's four team playoffs will begin Thursday night with the first game in both best of three series.  Regular season champ Somerset will host four seeded Ebensburg in one matchup.  The Businessmen have won fourteen straight games in the league.  In the other series, Claysburg hosts Patton.  The best of three semifinals will continue through Saturday, if necessary.  The survivors will face off in another best of three series to determine and league champion and regional representative.

Although Bedford had a record which would have qualified it for the playoffs, it will host the Region Seven Tournament, and the Cambria County League does not have regional hosts participate in the playoffs.  Bedford will resume play on July 16th when it hosts the Cambria champion, as well as six other regional qualifiers.

Indiana County's playoffs will get underway Thursday with Game 1 of the best-of-three semi-finals series.  Regular season champion Blairsville Kovacik Insurance (14-6 league, 14-8 overall) is the #1 seed and will face #4 seed Indiana Legion (10-10). Defending league champion and 2010 Region 7 runner-up Homer City Post 493 (11-9) earned the #2 seed and will take on #3 seed Marion Center (10-10), winners of 5 straight to end the season.  The winners will advance to play a best-of-three finals series for the league championship and a berth in the Region 7 Tournament.

Blairsville finished with a strong 2nd half, and will enter the playoffs with a well-rested pitching staff.  Indiana Legion and Blairsville split their regular season series, 2-2.  Homer City will face a red hot Marion Center team that at one time was 5-10 and at the bottom of the league standings.  This marks the 3rd straight year the teams have met in the first round of the playoffs.  Homer City won the regular season series 3-1.

Top seed Jersey Shore leads a six team field as the West Branch League Playoffs begin this evening.  Jersey Shore and second seed Hughesville will receive byes to the second round of the double elimination tournament.  Four teams are in action in tonight's first round, with Lewisburg visiting Milton and Williamsport matching up with Watsontown.  On Thursday, the Lewisburg-Milton winner will face off with Hughesville, and Jersey Shore will host the Williamsport-Watsontown victor.  The champion of the tournament will advance to the state regional in nearby Bloomsburg, set to begin July 16.

Seven teams will participate in this year's Fayette County postseason tournament.  California, by virtue of its regular season title will get a bye to the best of three semifinals.  The first round, which will be single elimination, will begin Thursday.  Six seed Farmington will face off with three seed Belle Vernon, seven seed Carmichaels will head to second seed Uniontown, and four seed Colonial 3 will play host to five seed Connellsville.  The lowest remaining seed will take on California, while the two remaining teams will matchup.  The semifinals will be contested Friday through Sunday, with the best of three championship series planned for Monday through Wednesday.

The eight playoff teams and seeds in the Bux-Mont have finally been sorted out with one day left in the regular season.  The first two rounds of the tournament will be played at the higher seeds, before the remainder of the tournament moves to Quakertown's Memorial Park on Saturday.  In round one, regular season champion Hatfield will host eight seeded Nor-Gwyn.  Seven seed Pennridge travels to number two Doylestown.  Quakertown, which slipped in recent days to the six seed, will face number three Warrington.  The final matchup pits five seed Perkiomen and four seed Pottstown.  The playoff champion will advance to the Region Two Tournament hosted by league member Nor-Gwyn.  The runner-up will advance to the regional, should Nor-Gwyn win the Bux-Mont title.

The eight teams of the Susquehanna Valley League will participate in the double elimination playoffs beginning Wednesday night.  There are four games on the slate, all of hosted by the higher seed, and all starting at 5:30.  Regular season champion and defending regional champ Danville hosts Shamokin/Mt. Carmel.  Catawissa travels to two seed Sunbury/Northumberland.  Line Mountain visits Berwick and Bloomsburg will play at Selinsgrove.  The winner of the tournament will join league member and host Bloomsburg at the Region Five tournament later in July.  If Bloomsburg wins the league title, then the runner-up will advance to the regional in the other spot.

The eight team playoff field for the Lehigh Valley League has been set following Tuesday night's games.  The playoff tournament will begin on Thursday, with four first round games played at the fields of the higher seeds.  Regular season champion Northern Valley, which has already secured a berth to the regional tournament, will be the one seed and will host Southern Lehigh at Northwestern High School at 5:45.  Seven seed Coplay will travel to Orefield Middle School to take on two seed North Parkland, also at 5:45.  South Parkland, the three seed, will host number six Lower Macungie at Parkland High School.  That game will also be a 5:45 start.  The final first round game will be a 7pm start at Harry Glasser Field, the home of four seed Fullerton.  Fullerton will host West Allentown, the fifth seed.  The double elimination tournament will continue Friday.

The winner of the tournament will join regular season champion Northern Valley in the regional at Nor-Gwyn.  Should Northern Valley also win the playoff title, the playoff runner-up would secure the league's second regional bid.  Check back for more updates from the Lehigh Valley League and other postseason action from around the state.

The Lebanon County Playoffs will begin Wednesday night with two first round games.  All six teams have qualified for the playoffs, which will be double elimination.  The five seed, Lebanon 5th Ward will go to four seed Fredericksburg in one contest, while last place Richland will face off with three seed Annville.  The top two seeds, Campbelltown and Myerstown have received byes to Thursday's second round.  The tournament will proceed through Monday, and Tuesday night, if a second championship round game is necessary.  The champion will move on to the regional, hosted by Lebanon County's own Fredericksburg.  If Fredericksburg should win the league title, the runner up will take the league's big to the regional playoffs.  Be sure to check back for continuing coverage of playoff action from around the Keystone State.

The Berks County playoffs begin Thursday night with a seven team field for the double elimination event.  Since Gregg Post did not complete the season due to a lack of players, number one seed and regular season champ Boyertown will receive a bye through the first round.  The three first round matchups will be Conrad Weiser (7) at Shillington (2), Daniel Boone (6) at Twin Valley (3), and Exeter (5) at West Lawn (4).  The winner of the Exeter/West Lawn game will meet Boyertown on Friday night.  The second round will also be staged at the home fields of the higher seeds before moving to West Lawn Saturday for the duration of the tournament.  The winner of the Berks League will move on to Nor-Gwyn for the Region Two Tournament.

Update:  Although the tournament was set to get underway on Wednesday, it has been delayed a day due to the ceremonies and road closures around West Lawn for the memorial service for Deputy Sheriff Kyle D. Pagerly.  The original article above has been altered to present the correct, current information.
