Second Day Matchups Set in Region Three

The first day of the Region Three Tournament in Warminster was marked by big wins in three of the four games.  Fort Washington battered Philly champ Ivy Ridge by a 15-0 count.  JP Mascaro rolled over Wayne 13-6.  Host team Warminster was beaten by Norchester 8-0.  In the day's lone close matchup, Lower Bucks champ Newtown beat Chester County champion Spring City 4-3 in 10 innings.

Opening Day of Region Four Play Complete

The first day of the Region Four Tournament in Hanover is in the books.  The first game saw York County champ Southwestern knock off Lancaster County rep Strasburg-Willow Street by a score of 6-3.  Lancaster County champ Penn Manor stayed undefeated on the season by beating Enola 10-3.  Following a four run first, Upper Dauphin went on to beat Campbelltown 10-1.  Host Hanover dropped Franklin Country champ Greencastle 6-5 in the day's final matchup.

Region 3 Play Opens With Routs

The Fort Washington Golden Generals commenced the Region 3 tournament by way of a fifteen run romp over Philadelphia champion Ivy Ridge.


The JP Mascaro Haulers had a slightly more contested win over Wayne.  Even still, the Greater Norristown League champions were able to move on to the winner's bracket with a 13-6 win.

Valley View Wins Region 5 Opener

Region Five Tournament play kicked off this morning at Mountaintop with District 11 representative Valley View defeating Wyoming Valley champion Greater Pittston 5-1.  Greater Pittston will try to stay alive Sunday in Game 5, while Valley View moves on in the Winner's Bracket to Sunday's Game 7.

Region 2 Tournament Begins

Action at the Region Two Tournament in West Lawn began this morning with North Parkland of the Lehigh Valley League defeating Berks Champ Twin Valley by a score of 9-7.  Twin Valley will play in Game 5 of the Loser's Bracket tomorrow at 9:45, while North Parkland advances to the Game 7 in the Winner's Bracket at 4pm.  More updates to follow as they come in...

Rain Wreaks Havoc On Playoff Games

Rain has ruined the plans of most leagues, for at least tonight.  Strong storms pushed across the state throughout the day, causing delays and postponements.


We'll get you the results of any games that were completed today, though it won't be nearly as many as were expected to be played.

Susquehanna Valley & West Branch Leagues Ready for Finales

Play in the Susquehanna Valley and West Branch Leagues is down to the final pairings.  In the Susquehanna Valley League, Danville will visit undefeated Selinsgrove in the championship round.  Selinsgrove will have to be beaten twice to be eliminated.  One win will give Selinsgrove another league title and visit to the Region Five Tournament.

Homer City One Win Away From Indiana Co. Title

Homer City routed Creps United 15-0 in 5 innings on Saturday to advance to the Indiana County championship round.  Creps United will play Saturday's other victor Indiana Legion at 2pm today in an elimination contest.  The winner will go on to meet Homer City on Monday night.

Greensburg & Bushy Run Sweep to District 31 Finals

Greensburg and Bushy Run will meet in the finals of District 31 following sweeps in the league's semifinal round.  The championship will be played at 5pm at Westmoreland County Community College.  By virtue of their finals appearance, both teams have clinched spots in next week's regional tournament in Clearfield.  Greensburg defeated West Hempfield 11-6 to complete their two game sweep in one semifinal.  In the other series, Bushy Run finished off Mu...

Sixteen Team Allegheny Playoffs Begin

Allegheny County has one of the most unique playoffs formats in the state, as each of the league's in the county sends representatives to one county-wide playoff tournament.  The tournament began Saturday with eight first round games.  The results were:

Lebanon County Playoffs Down to Three

Fredericksburg stayed alive Saturday night in the Lebanon County playoffs at the expense of Annville.  Fredericksburg won the loser's bracket contest 9-7.  Today's action continues with another elimination game between Fredericksburg and Myerstown.  Undefeated Campbelltown awaits the survivor in the league's championship round.  A trip to Hanover for the Region Four tournament is at stake.

Top Seed Yardley Ousted in Lower Bucks

Lower Bucks perennial power Yardley met an abrupt end to its season on Saturday, losing to four seed Newtown by a score of 4-3.  This result gave Newtown a 2 games to none sweep of their best of 3 semifinal series.  Newtown will await the winner of Sunday's game between Falls and Yardley-Morrisville.  Falls took Game One of the series 6-5, but Yardley-Morrisville struck back on Saturday with a 5-4 win.  Sunday's game will be hosted by Falls.  The...

Playoffs in High Gear in Region 7

League's around Region Seven are now in the thick of their playoffs.  In Jefferson County, the four team, double-elimination playoffs began with two games.  Punxsutawney defeated Clearfield 11-8, while top seed DuBois beat Brookville 10-5.  Brookville will travel to Clearfield for a loser's bracket matchup, while Punxsutawney will play DuBois for a spot in the finals.  No matter what, Clearfield's season will continue past this round, since it host ne...

Hopewell Wins Beaver County Opener

Following a very successful run during the high school season, Hopewell was forced to complete its legion schedule in just sixteen days.  The teams picked up right where they left off in the Spring, winning all fourteen games scheduled.  This same momentum stuck with Hopewell, as it defeated Beaver Falls 11-1 in the opener of the Best of Five Beaver County Championship Series.  Hopewell is now just two wins away from another trip to the Region Six Tourname...
