Indiana Legion defeated Marion Center 8-3 Tuesday evening to sweep the championship series 2 games to none.  Tyler Grube pitched a complete game and helped his cause with a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

The Indiana County championship series got underway Sunday with #4 seed Indiana Legion beating #3 seed Marion Center by a score of 11-3.  Mike Holsinger went the distance, holding Marion Center scoreless over the final five frames to pick up the win.  Derek Shields delivered a 3-run triple for Indiana that broke open a tight game.  Game Two of the best-of-three series is set for Tuesday at 6pm in Indiana.

Marion Center and Indiana Legion advanced to the championship series in Indiana County with playoff wins Saturday.  Game 1 is set for 2pm Sunday in Marion Center.  Game 2 will be played in Indiana on Monday at 6pm.  If necessary, Game 3 will be in Marion Center on Tuesday at 6pm.

Cambria County's four team playoffs will begin Thursday night with the first game in both best of three series.  Regular season champ Somerset will host four seeded Ebensburg in one matchup.  The Businessmen have won fourteen straight games in the league.  In the other series, Claysburg hosts Patton.  The best of three semifinals will continue through Saturday, if necessary.  The survivors will face off in another best of three series to determin...

Indiana County's playoffs will get underway Thursday with Game 1 of the best-of-three semi-finals series.  Regular season champion Blairsville Kovacik Insurance (14-6 league, 14-8 overall) is the #1 seed and will face #4 seed Indiana Legion (10-10). Eight teams will take the field today to begin the District 31 (Westmoreland County) Playoffs.  Although members of the league's two divisions did not meet during the regular season, the top four teams from each division were combined for the playoffs.  The tournament will use a best of three structure throughout.  Eight seed Irwin, the fourth place team from the North/West Division, will travel to South/East champ and overall one seed West Hempfield today...

Blairsville Kovacik Insurance clinched the Indiana County (Region 7) regular season title with a 5-3 win over Indiana Legion today.  Blairsville, 14-5 in the league and 14-7 overall, is playing its first season after a 3-year hiatus.  Manager Bob Thompson's team will open the playoffs on Thursday at WyoTech Field in Blairsville against an opponent that is yet to be determined.

The four team playoff field in Region 7's Jefferson County has been decided.  The double elimination event will begin Tuesday with two games.  Regular Season Champion DuBois will host number four seed Brookville and number three Clearfield will travel to second seed Punxsutawney.  The winner of the tournament will advance to the Region 7 Tournament hosted by Bedford.

Clearfield and Punsutawney kicked off their seasons on Sunday afternoon with their Jefferson County League opener.  Braedon Pennington paced the home team on the mound, pitching all seven innings for the win.  He surrendered just four hits and three earned runs while striking out fourteen in what will surely be one of the top strikeout performances the state will see this year.
