Nor-Gwyn Sweeps Doubleheader

Nor-Gwyn took part in a doubleheader in York County yesterday against a couple non-league opponents. In the first game, the Hawks downed Penn Manor of the Lancaster County League. Nor-Gwyn won it by five, 9-4, with the big bat being swung by Nate Sellers who's two run homerun sealed the victory for the Region 2 team.

Boyertown was able to take advantage of eleven Doylestown walks and three errors, as the Bears downed the Tigers 7-6 in non-league play at Bear Stadium on Saturday night. Ben Tracy took the loss in relief for Doylestown, pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up the Bears’ final two runs. The West Lawn Owls will host the eight team state tournament which begins July 26th. West Lawn will also host the final three rounds of the Berks County Playoffs. The team has released its full schedule, which includes 21 games in the newly reformatted Berks County League. Mid-Atlantic Regional Host Boyertown's Schedule Released

The Mid-Atlantic National Regional will again return to Boyertown's Bear Stadium this August. The host Bears will be joined by seven other teams in the reconfigured regional, including two other Pennsylvania teams. Boyertown's schedule has been posted on the WZAR News website. We're proud to present another exclusive interview to our loyal readers. Coach Rick Moatz, manager of the Boyertown Bears, has been gracious enough to lend some of his time and insight about the game and his team. Boyertown has amassed the most state championships in PA history, including winning four in a row between 2006 and 2009. They will host the 2011 Mid-Atlantic National Regional Tournament this summer.

The Shillington Red Sox of the Berks County League in Region 2 have announced their schedule for the upcoming season. Of particular note is the format change we'll be seeing in the Berks County League this year. Seven inning doubleheaders will be utilized in addition to a third full length game against each opponent in the now eight team league.

Pennridge couldn't have been too pleased with their 13-4 loss yesterday at the hands of the Ohio state champions from Tuscarawas County. They bounced back today, handily defeating the host of the Great Lakes Regional.
